Pointer is one of the most widely used and proven effective insecticides on the market today. Pointer provides reliable systemic insect control on a wide variety of landscape ornamentals. Used by professional arborists/applicators, foresters, municipal and park managers with the ArborSystems Wedgle® Direct-Inject™ Tree Injection System.

Pointer Insecticide is now labeled for two-year control after testing showed that one application of Pointer provided extended control of many pests including adelgids, borers, and aphids. Annual applications are still recommended for severe infestations.

Field Report on Pine Needle Scale
  Pine Needle Scale

“This two trunked limber pine had a heavy infestation of pine needle scale. I treated the left side with Pointer and did not treat the right side. As you can see, the treated side is thriving, the other is dead.”

  Research on Hemlock Woolly Adelgids
  Control Hemlock Wooly Adelgids

A 2005 research report published by the Department of Entomology, Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University), Blacksburg, concludes that:

“Pointer Insecticide offers a significant opportunity to control Hemlock Woolly Adelgids. Not only does this chemical provide sufficient control of this devastating pest, but the ArborSystems Direct-Inject unit allows large numbers of trees to be treated quickly making it a desirable treatment option.”

Research on Emerald Ash Borers

This study was conducted to examine ArborSystems Pointer Insecticide for its potential to control borers, such as Emerald Ash Borer, by comparing concentrations of imidacloprid from Pointer in sap and tree tissues with those from another product commonly used for borer control.

This research concludes that Pointer, in many cases, delivers higher concentrations of imidacloprid than other products. Research conducted by Dr. Mark Harrell, Forest Health Program Leader, Nebraska Forest Service, University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
